Having a hard time deciding how to structure your next hire?  See the information below to discover the advantages to temporary, temp-to-hire and direct hire arrangements with our staffing firm.

When does temporary hiring make sense?

A temporary employment arrangement is a great choice when your company needs the flexibility of a contingent workforce.  Whether you have seasonal or project needs, temporary employees can be a great way to respond quickly to your company's needs without a long-term employment commitment.

Why choose temp-to-hire?

How many times have you hired someone only to discover that the employee's personality or skill set isn't a fit for your organization?  It happens much too often.  A temp-to-hire arrangement is a great way to prevent a "bad match".  Temp-to-hire arrangements typically last around three months.  This time allows both employer and employee to "try before they buy."  There are three choices within a temp-to-hire assignment:

  1. You may convert the temporary to permanent status any time during the three month (520 hours) contract, and Office Recruiters will pro-rate the fee based on how many hours the temporary has already worked.
  2. You may convert the temporary at the end of the 520 hour assignment requirement for no additional charge.
  3. You may continue the assignment indefinitely and choose whether or not to take him/her on permanently long after the 520 hour requirement.

When is direct hire the better option?

In today's vastly competitive job market, it can be extremely difficult to attract top talent.  Sometimes the only way to attain the best employees is to immediately offer a permanent position with benefits.  These individuals are typically already working and would require an attractive alternative to his/her current situation in order to consider a change in employment.

Candidate Screening Process:

Our screening process consists of five parts.

  1. Completion of application and demonstrated ability to follow directions
  2. Criminal background
  3. Verifiable work references
  4. Skills Testing
  5. In-depth interview

Our recruiting specialists approach candidate screening systematically.  Each candidate's clerical skills are assessed.  This gives us a baseline of his/her skill level in a given area (i.e. word processing, data entry, typing, bookkeeping, etc.).  This process ensures that the candidate has proven their abilities before they go on an assignment.

Office Recruiters conducts criminal background checks on every applicant before they are sent on an interview at a client site.  There is no charge to the customer for this service.  Extensive work references are also conducted prior to any hire.

Perhaps the most important part of our screening process is the in-depth face-to-face interview.  These interviews are designed to discover the candidate's motivations, skills, work environment preferences and expectations for his/her next job.  Just as important, these interviews give us an opportunity to assess the candidate's soft skills and how they will interact and conduct themselves at work.  Our experienced staff is dedicated to uncovering all of the information necessary to make a successful match between client and employee.

Other screening services available are:

  • More extensive criminal background investigations
  • Educational Verification
  • Drug Testing
  • Customized testing at the client's request
